Pooja Cabinet with Brass Motifs and Backlit Jali
A dedicated pooja unit with carved brass motifs, a jali backdrop and warm backlighting that gives the space a calm, temple-like feel.
The client wanted the pooja space to feel separate from the rest of the hall without a full partition. The brass-motif shutters fold back during prayers, and the jali pattern lets light filter through even when closed, so the corner never feels boxed in.
Backlighting behind the jali turns the whole cabinet into a soft glowing feature at night, and the brass detailing catches the light during aarti without needing extra lamps.
Choosing the Right Corner
This cabinet sits in a foyer nook that gets morning light from the front door, so the brass catches a natural glow at the time most families do their prayers, without any artificial light needed.
Materials That Age Well
Teak was chosen over MDF for the frame since it holds up better around the oil lamps and incense smoke that come with daily pooja use, and the brass motifs were sealed to resist tarnishing.
